How to Stop Spam

I'm always looking for ways to eliminate spam from your life. A friend just gave me these ideas and I thought they were too good to not share here.

Junk Snail Mail

  • *Contact the Direct Marketing Association and add your name to their opt-out for $1.
  • *End credit card offers permanently or for five years at a time here.
  • *Stop the catalogs. Sign up for Catalog Choice's free service to select the ones you don't want to receive.

E-Mail Spam

  • *Use prominent e-mail service providers that spend time and money to reduce the frustrations of spam. Good choices include Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo.
  • *For mega spam-blocking power, use an all-purpose filter like MailWasher Pro.
  • *Create an e-mail address used exclusively for online purchases, warranties, and business interactions. Use a separate address for personal correspondence.
  • *Never post your e-mail address in public forums. Spammers comb sites for the @ symbol. Instead spell it out (ihatespam AT aolDOTcom instead of ihatespam@aol.com).

Telemarketing
