Junk Snail Mail
- *Contact the Direct Marketing Association and add your name to their opt-out for $1.
- *End credit card offers permanently or for five years at a time here.
- *Stop the catalogs. Sign up for Catalog Choice's free service to select the ones you don't want to receive.
E-Mail Spam
- *Use prominent e-mail service providers that spend time and money to reduce the frustrations of spam. Good choices include Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo.
- *For mega spam-blocking power, use an all-purpose filter like MailWasher Pro.
- *Create an e-mail address used exclusively for online purchases, warranties, and business interactions. Use a separate address for personal correspondence.
- *Never post your e-mail address in public forums. Spammers comb sites for the @ symbol. Instead spell it out (ihatespam AT aolDOTcom instead of ihatespam@aol.com).
Telemarketing
- *Sign up for the National Do Not Call Registry if you haven't already done so. Your number remains on the list for 5 years.
