What do you do when you have an unexpected day off from school? You help mom make 6 pounds of sugared almonds! Here's the recipe so you can make some too...
Sugared Almonds
1 lb almonds
1 egg white
1 T cold water
1 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. nutmeg
1/8 t. salt
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
Mix egg white and water. Add nuts, mix until sticky. Stir nuts into sugar and spice. Spread on cookie sheet. Bake at 250 degrees, stirring every 15 minutes for 45-60 minutes.
*I bought my almonds from BJ's. They come in 3lb bags for $10.00.

Those look yummy! Funny how we busy ourselves making food when we are "iced" in! We made Say Anything's famous bundt cake for #1's teachers and a sweet potato casserole to throw in the freezer for another day.
Next on the list are peanut butter blossoms and this post inspired me to make some caramel popcorn, too, if I'm still motivated!
We just bought our almonds last week. I just need to find the time to make them. Maybe if you are snowed in tomorrow, I can run the ingredients over to you. Just kidding!
MMMMMM! Grandpa makes them every year - so yummy! Thanks for the ingredients - he hoards his particular tweaks on the original recipe like it's some State Department secret :)
