- After going 8 days with no soda, I broke down and had three in a 5-day span.
- I didn't take my vitamin even one time.
- I did drink a little more water, but didn't meet my target
- Only about half of the evenings I didn't have any PM snacks.
- I never was in bed before 11:00PM
Last week I asked you to think about if you are an emotional eater, or do you eat when you're bored? Stressed? Or do you just love to eat?
For myself, I've always found eating to be an interruption in my day. A nuisance. An obligation.
I've been able to take it or leave it. It has never been anything that has held any real meaning to me...just a means to an end. Namely, life.
But as I reevaluated when I'm eating now, I think I'm eating when I'm bored. I find that when I'm watching TV or playing a game or just relaxing, that's when I'm most apt to grab a snack.
So with that new revelation, I'm going to make a conscious effort to either choose healthy snacks or avoid the food altogether. Have the time I really didn't even realize or think about what I was doing, so just being aware of that habit should help.
Well, I know you're all waiting anxiously for this week's scale picture. For those of you keeping score at home, the number didn't move. Now I'm off to drink some water. But first, link up and tell us how you did last week with your goals for healthier living! And next week, be ready to share what methods of accountability do you find the most helpful: husband, weight loss group, best friend, your kids?

I think at times I have been an emotional eater because you know, chocolate really can make you feel better.
Anyway, I posted my progress from last week at our corner. Hopefully I linked it properly.
I didn't link it correctly...thankfully you added Mr. Linky!
Today, I'm starting my challenge. Last week was just to sleep-deprived, sickly, and out of whack (the whole house!) to attempt anything resembling a commitment. I'll link up.
I don't think I can join the challenge right now, but just thought I'd say that if you're bored, come on over! I've got plenty of things to keep several people busy, and I'll hide the bad snacks and feed you good ones :)
I'm so impressed with your accountability program, Natalie! What a great thing to do. I don't have enough tips to fill a blog, so I'll just give you mine here.
A friend of mine is in med school, and she just finished a rotation in a bariatrics clinic in December. She lived with me during her rotation, so she came home every day with tips and studies and recipes and such. The biggest tip she gave me was to eat protein within an hour of waking up and to stay hydrated. I know several people have already given these tips, but I'll just emphasize them. My friend recommends a 1-egg + 2-egg whites omelet for breakfast.
Also, I find that mayoclinic.com is a great resource for everything. It has an entire section dedicated to healthy living, and there you can get the how and why for each step of weight loss. I find that I'm a lot more motivated to follow medical advice when I know exactly how a process works. If you tell me to eat protein, I'm probably not going to do it. If you tell me to eat protein because it jump starts my metabolism in the morning, well, then I'll consider it. Mayo Clinic also has a full database of healthy recipes to choose from.
That's it from me. Good luck!
