It Wasn't Junior, but it could've been

There was a story on CNN.com yesterday about a family who left their 2-year-old behind in an airport after they caught their flight. They didn't even realize he was missing until airport security contacted them in flight.

Now in defense of the parents, you need to read what happened:

The boy's father, told The Vancouver Sun the mix-up occurred Monday as he, his wife and two grandparents of the child were scrambling between their arrival in Canada and a connecting flight to Winnipeg on Air Canada.

Running late after having to unpack and repack all their luggage, "we had 10 minutes before boarding. We were running for the gate."

The father said he thought his son was with the three other adults, who were running to the gate ahead of him, and they thought the little boy was with him.

Instead, in a scenario similar to the movie "Home Alone," the toddler was wandering alone between a security checkpoint and the flight gates, said Angela Mah, an Air Canada representative.

Now I have to defend the parents on this one because I could so see this happening. After traveling with 3 kids last year, I know anything can happen when you are running through airports trying to catch connecting flights---especially if you are travelling with other people who are helping you wrangle the kids.

It's a good reminder for all parents who are trying to navigate airports with youngin's these days.

oh my word. That is the stuff of mother's nightmares. I do think at some point upon sitting in my seat I would've done some kind of head count to make sure everyone made it on board....especially the little ones!
