Works-for-me-Wednesday: Kid Identification

We recently returned home from vacation and although we didn't fly, it reminded me of a tip that I learned on the last vacation we took via airplane.

To add an extra level of security in the airport, we took the free baggage tags that you can get at the check-in counter and filled one out for each kid. Then we attached it to their belt loop so that if they got lost or separated from us, all the contact information would be right there in black and white. We made sure to write in our cell phone number, hotel name where we were staying at our destination and our flight information.

Fortunately, we never had to test out this tip but I'm sure it would've made life a lot easier for a "good samaritan" or the authorities to return a kid to us. Plus, it made me feel better knowing that even if Junior couldn't talk or Brown Sugar didn't know all of our information or Sparkle was just plain hysterical, we could still be located easily.

And that works for me on this Wednesday. For more great ideas and tips, visit Shannon at Rocks in my Dryer.

My little guy is still too small to be seperated from us, but my sister always does this with her son. She puts a note in his pocket with all phone numbers and addresses for people who can be responsible for him. You could even print a couple up and have them laminated.

That's a great tip. It would be great to make them up ahead of time and laminate them! Blessings...

Great idea, especially laminated.

I'm a diabetic... maybe it's time to consider making them for in my bags...

Thanks!

Good tip. I always give my oldest daughter one of my business cards with all phone numbers she could need on the back whenever she goes anywhere. She just sticks in her pocket or her bag. This though is a great tip in case they ever get separated from you on accident. Especially with everyone having cel phones nowadays. This would be good even for the mall, especially during back to school & Christmas when it is so easy for kids to wander way.
