The Answer

I've been mulling around all week what and if I should write anything about the tragedy at Virginia Tech. Really, what more is there to say? It was a horrible, tragic, sad, infuriating, selfish, and senseless act.

I'm horrified by the images that have emerged, sickened by the greedy executives who thought it was "in the public's interest" to air them, and disgusted that America keeps watching.

There's really nothing more to say. There never is when such tragedy strikes. However, this time I wasn't shocked. Yes, Columbine I was shocked. 9/11, I was mortified. Hearing of beheadings of innocent Americans, I was sickened. But, now that we've become "accustomed" to school shootings and other random acts of violence, I have to admit that I wasn't surprised to hear that another shooting rampage had taken place. You kind of expect it...some time...some place.

How sad is that?

After hearing my fill of how this all could have been prevented from esteemed psychologists, politicians and politically correct pundits, I finally ran across a voice of reason.

Read this. Perry's on the money. When are we going to wake up and see what the real problem is in this world. The answer is quite simple.

Amen Perry.

And I agree with you too - I wasn't shocked this time. I haven't had the TV on to see all the ugliness because my kids are now old enough to understand - but still, I find it horrid that I have become in any way "accustomed."

Thanks for a thought-provoking post.

Thank you for sharing your post and the link. Shawn and I both feel the same way. Before I read your post he came home from work and said "Why did NBC have to air it?" We know it's for money and ratings, but moral responsibilty...ah I'm done being angry at them. People need Jesus. It's all I can say.

Amen, Amen. Thanks for the link - he said so eloquently what's been stirring in a lot of our hearts this week. Was privileged to share an awesome morning of prayer at our MOMS group this past Tuesday - spent the whole two hours praying for each other, for the moms in our whole church and then for the moms of the VTech community. We need each other, and we need to carry each other to the throne in times like this. Thanks for pouring that vision and mission into me, so that I can now carry it to the moms I serve with here in Lansdale :)
