No matter how much I squint my eyes or adjust the lighting, the carpet looks just as blue as the first, second or third time I cleaned it.

Finger nail polish remover? Be sure to do a test that it doesn't take out the color of the carpet. OxiClean does wonders too, but it is usually better with organic stains.
I've used Zout for lots of stains like this. Was it fingerpainting paints, water-soluble? If so, then maybe one of the heavy duty Resolves would work?
