Works for Me Wednesday

My girls have never been big fans of audio stories. They are both much more visual and would rather see a book or video. So, when a friend gave me an Adventures In Odyssey audio series to try out, I didn't have high hopes that the girls would give it a fair listen. Boy, was I wrong!!

They immediately fell in love with Mr. Whittaker, Eugene, Connie, Tom Riley, Bernard and all the other residents of Odyssey. This particular series features 12 of their all-time favorite character-building shows, and my kids have listened to them all at least twice. Some even three times, and we've only had the CDs four days. They were immediately captured by the characters, plots and suspense.

If you go here, you'll find out that "Adventures in Odyssey presents exciting entertainment that brings moral and biblical principles to life. Set in the small town of Odyssey, the stories range from comedy to suspense, from romance to mystery. The show’s memorable, fun characters and situations are designed to ignite the imaginations of tweens (ages 8 to 12) — while captivating the attention of the entire family."

Although the series is targeted to tweens, both my 6 and 4 year olds have enjoyed them. Just be aware that some episodes have "scary or intense" action scenes that may capture a little too much of your wee ones imagination.

You can also visit the official Adventures in Odyssey Web site for games, printables, songs, activities, and a library of all the 550 episodes that have been taped since 1987.

I'm sure many of you have already discovered Adventures in Odyssey, but for those of you who haven't they are certainly worth a listen. And that's what works for me!

We LOVE the Odyssey CD's. In fact, I think my husband is their biggest fan! We listen to them on long car trips, or at home on rainy days, or just for fun. Our 7-year-old thinks they're great, and learns some important lessons along the way.
