My friend 'Say Anything' is turning 30. We had an intimate gathering of girlfriends last night to help her celebrate the big 3-0. She is a big tea lover and so we were going to take her to this beautiful tea house. Well, a whopper storm blew in and by the time we got there the power was out and not expected to return for 15 hours.
So the nine of us, decked out in our fine tea house apparel, trapsed into Outback Steakhouse for our celebration. It's not often you get to wear a corsage and pearls to the Outback! But she did and we had a wonderful evening cackling, talking and laughing some more.
I've known Say Anything for about 7 years. It didn't take long to discover the absolute gem of a person inside. She is one of the most talented, animated, creative and honest people I know. The last reason is why I'm choosing to call her Say Anything.
She is the friend you go to if you really, really want to know if you look fat in those jeans. She's the friend you call when you want an honest opinion of the new couch you just bought. She gives it to you straight. I respect that about her because she does it in love.
She's also the friend that has no qualms telling you about her Vicky's Secret underwear, or her tie-dyed underwear or talking about her underwear in general. In a nutshell, let's just say she likes to talk. And she's good at it.
It was evident from the very diverse group of friends gathered that Say Anything has captured the hearts of many she has encountered over the years. And I know my life would not be the same without her in it.
So to my good friend, Say Anything, Happy 30th Birthday! The best is yet to come.

Thank goodness she finally turned 30! Although, I hope this new stage of maturity doesn't calm her down or change her magnetic personality.
