Potential After School Snack

We recently had a family dinner at Macaroni Grill. If you've never been, they have many delicious meals to choose from. One of my favorites is the Chicken Marsala Ravioli (scroll down to over-stuffed pasta). Yum! It is also one of the few restaurants I am aware of that offers free refills of milk for your children. Need I say more?

All that being said, that isn't the point of my post. While there, Jeter paid me a huge compliment. He told me that my "dipping oil is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than MG's. Theirs just tastes like oil mom. Yours has spice!"

While I would love to take all the credit for my dipping oil, I can't. I got the recipe from Sarah at In the Midst of It. It is so delish - and guess what my boys enjoyed today for snack? Want to make your own?

Sarah's Dipping Oil

1 tsp of all the following:

crushed red pepper
black pepper
oregano
rosemary
basil
parsley
garlic powder
minced garlic
salt

extra virgin olive oil

Combine all ingredients. Pour olive oil to cover about 1/4 in. Stir well.

You can wrap the bowl with plastic wrap and leave it out. It will be a-ok for weeks as long as you spoon out the amount you need for dipping.

I love Macaroni Grill! I like their "Create Your Own Pasta". You get to choose everything and completely make up your own dish. They even let me choose an obscure sauce that wasn't listed (I think they had at least five choices, maybe more... but I wanted a different particular sauce).

Our boys love dipping in oil. I'll have to try this one sometime. We usually just pour a little EVOO on a saucer and shake some black pepper and maybe one other Italian spice of our choice. Yum.
