Facebook

UPDATED: Yes, I have several friend confirmations sitting in my inbox. For some reason, my virus protector won't let me into Facebook. Still trying to figure out why it got blocked. So as soon as I get back in I'll be adding all of you.

Over the last two weeks I've had a flurry of people add me as their friend on Facebook. I find it kind of funny because I've been sitting on Facebook for about a year listening to the crickets chirp. It seemed that no one I knew was using this social networking site.

For an explanation about what Facebook is and how it got started you can visit Wikipedia.

I've been tempted many times to just close my account because I have yet to find the allure and value in Facebook. Actually, Facebook just really doesn't do much for me, however, I have reconnected with several high school friends and that's been fun.

So if you're on Facebook, add me as your friend. If you aren't on Facebook, I'm not sure I'd suggest you start.

What do you Facebookers think? Thumbs up or down to Facebook?

I just started on Facebook a week or two ago. (I did add you as a friend, but you haven't accepted yet.)

I like it to keep in touch with my BIL & new SIL in New York.

I am starting to get into in a bit more than when I first joined, although there are aspects of the new layout I haven't figured out yet.

I too just started on Facebook two weeks ago. (I did add you as a friend, but you haven't accepted yet.)

I have found it as a way to connect with my family that lives all over the country....especially with my nieces and nephews that are late teens early twenties as they up load photos, videos and write about a lot of their life that I would never know about. We have a better relationship because of it.

I tend to agree with you - I've found that the connections I've made are folks I'm already in connection with. The few others I've found that I've re-connected with are not ones I'd have pursued on my own, so that is nice. But it's a lot of work for me, as it loads funky every single time I log in and we can't find the problem anywhere. Further, I'm more interested in the actual interchanges between me and other members, not all the "stuff" that gets thrown at me or hung on my wall and so on. I much prefer when I get real notes from those folks, which seems to be less popular than the quick fly-by greetings and other apps.

I hardly ever go on it. The only time I do is when I get a friend request.
