What's Your Truth?

"Hiding Place" has always been a favorite song of mine so I was thrilled to learn from Hands-Free Heart that Selah recorded the song. As I followed her link hoping to hear a sample of their version, I was shocked to learn that Todd, one of the members of Selah, lost his infant daughter in April. As I read on I couldn't believe that Todd's sister and also former member of Selah, Nicol, had lost her infant son to SIDS seven weeks later. Of course, we were all shocked to hear Steven Curtis Chapman lost his daughter in an accident around the same time.

Indescribable loss. Unimaginable pain.

And yet their faith in Christ is even stronger than before. Even in the midst of the questions, anger, and sadness, all of them hold on to the truth that has been tattooed on their hearts.

This was written by Angie, Todd's wife, on her blog:
I am not ashamed to say that I believe the Gospel is true. I believe that He died for me, that He knows the number of hairs on my head, and that He keeps my tears in a bottle. I believe there was a real man named Moses, and that the Lord really parted the waters. I believe in the scarred hands and feet. I believe in the providence of God, even when it feels contrary to what my heart desires.

He has not abandoned us. He is the God of the River, the God of broken dreams and crushed spirits, the God of Moses, the God of you. He is trustworthy, and my prayer for you today is that you will press into Jesus as the words spill like broken perfume through the pain.

Without God, there is no hope for these families and millions more like them. But they know God holds their lives, and the lives of their children, in His hands and that is the Truth they need to move forward each day.

Is it easy? No. But without God it would be impossible.

i've been reading angies blog for some time now. after experiencing our own miscarriage i was so touched. i have no idea why God choose to take our child home without holding it, but then i can't imagine continuing on knowing their life would be so brief. it is amazing and has really touced my heart. it is a frequent read of mine!

I, too have been reading her blog for quite a while now. I'm so blessed by their choice to keep walking by what they KNOW and trusting in that Truth. It's been a huge source of additional encouragement to me these recent weeks. Thanks for spreading the word about it.
