In our continuing quest to check a few more places off this list, we took off for Lititz yesterday to visit the Wilbur Chocolate Factory and Sturgis Pretzels.
As soon as we stepped out of the car in Lititz, the smell of chocolate was wafting through the air. At the Wilbur Chocolate Factory, you can visit the company museum and learn more about the origins of this company and the chocolate making process. You can even watch workers in the kitchen making lots of yummy chocolate treats by hand. They also have a beautiful and large collection of china tea settings from around the world.

Attached to the museum is the company store where you can find a wide selection of their top seller: the Wilbur Buds. I had won a gift certificate last summer from Jesus & Dark Chocolate during a Bloggy Giveaway week for the Wilbur Chocolate store, so we stocked up on milk and dark chocolate buds, dark chocolate covered pretzels, dark chocolate covered peanut butter cups and some individual chocolate lollipops for the kids.
Next up was Sturgis Pretzels which is just down the street and around the corner. We entered an unassuming house where we found the original ovens and equipment used to make the first Sturgis Pretzels. The factory is now in located in Reading but you can visit Lititz to take a tour and learn more about how Sturgis Pretzels got its start. There is also a small store where you can buy various varieties of pretzels.
Honestly, there is a nominal fee for the short tour and after taking it we didn't feel like it was worth the money. But if you are a pretzel aficionado, then you might want to consider taking the 15-minute tour that includes a short hands-on lesson on how to twist a pretzel.
Of course, you all know how I love dark chocolate so I brought back a box of Wilbur dark chocolate buds to giveaway. Simply leave me a comment and let me know if you've done anything on this list, or tell me something else you've done this summer, and you'll be entered in the drawing. Hurry! Comments close at 5:00PM today and then I'll randomly draw the winner. I'll post who the winner is later tonight.

Well with Rockers broken arm this summer we haven't done too much from the list but we are doing the summer reading program from the library and we are now planing a tubing trip since he go the cast off.
We've done several from the list, but I'll mention #20 since we just did that yesterday! (Oh, and I love dark chocolate as much as you do!)
We've done a few, including making popsicles and washing the car together.
We went to the park - once. Plan on doing that again. Honestly, the whole ankle injury put a wrench in my grandios plans for this summer. We also have done a variety of crafts - including tie-dyes. Visiting family isn't on the list (I don't think) but we've done it! Oh - and we took in two free movies too.
Chocolate sounds scrumptious!
We have really enjoyed letterboxing since I read about it on your list. There is a really tough letterbox hidden in Lititz Spring Park....did you look for it while you were here? :)
So you were in my "backyard".....it's such a quiant town, I do love living here. And of course I am so addicted to Wilbur Chocolate! It's sooooooo stinkin good. :)
We are also planning to check out the Climbnasieum (sp?) sometime soon.
Don't worry about entering me in the contest, let someone else enjoy that yummy, creamy chocolate!
