Freecycle

I think I'm one of the last Mohican's to jump on this bandwagon, but I've got to tell you about my experience with Freecycle last week. Freecycle is a site similar to Craig's List except people list things they want to give away for FREE.

We had a yard sale several weeks ago and were left with about a dozen boxes of stuff that didn't sell and that we didn't want back in the house. My plan was to donate our stuff to Salvation Army, Goodwill, or Volunteers of America but none of those places were accepting boxes of miscellaneous household items.

So I hopped on Freecycle and posted that I had several boxes worth of stuff that would be sitting on my front porch for the taking (a common posting). We piled the front porch up and went to see a movie. When we came back, it looked like a few items had been taken but the bulk of the stuff was still there. About an hour later, a van pulled up and a mom and two kids hopped out and started loading EVERYTHING. They told Jim they planned on selling it on the flea market circuit. Within six hours we got rid of everything!

Whether you are looking for free stuff or have stuff to offer, Freecycle is a great site. You do need to register to use the site, but you can sign up for a newsletter that comes to your inbox listing the most recent offerings.
Has anyone else had any experience with Freecycle?
