The school my kids attend uses a lot of songs and chants for learning. They take everything from math facts to history, science and grammar and set it to a tune or little ditty.
Brown Sugar always has a little song she's humming while coloring or swinging. Now, instead of just made up words she is actually singing about even numbers or creation. I thought I'd share a few of the kindergarten chants and songs they use for math and Bible that you could use with your own kids.
Days of the Week (to the tune of "Clementine")
There are 7 days, there are 7 days, there are 7 days in a week:
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Counting by 10 (song: Little Bunny Foo Foo tune)
10, 20, 30
40, 50, 60
70, 80, 90
100!! (say this line loudly)
Even and odd numbers (chant)
Even numbers are my hero;
They end in 2, 4, 6, 8, and 0.
Odd numbers are so fine;
They end in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.
Matthew 28:19 (song: 10 Little Indians)
Matthew 28 verse 19 (repeat this part of tune for next line)
Go therefore and make disciples
Of all the nations
Baptizing them in the name of the Father
And of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

And he had a dozen sons.
