Works-for-me-Wednesday: Yard Sale Tip

My neighborhood is getting ready to have its annual yard sale in two weeks. This event is held the same weekend every year. So throughout the year, whenever I run across something that we will want to include in the sale I go ahead and put it in a box in my basement. I even slap a price on it.

Then, when it's time for the sale I just go to the basement and pull out the four or five boxes of stuff I've been accumulating over the year and I'm ready to go. I don't even have to worry about pricing anything!

And that what works-for-me on this Wednesday! For more ideas, visit Shannon at Rocks in my Dryer.

Thanks for the tip! My neighborhood does the same thing, and I thought I was really smart to start a box of items. But I'm going to go ahead and price them beforehand too. I always hate the night before a yard sale just for that very reason. It seems that my husband prices things high (to make more money), but I price things low (to get rid of stuff)!

That is such a good and organized method! I should really do that, and then maybe I wouldn't keep putting off having a Garage Sale.

Thanks for sharing!

I've been tossing things into a box for a garage sale my daughter hopes to have this summer. I never thought about pricing things ahead of time. What a great idea! Thanks!

Pricing as you toss it in the box is a great idea. Now, got any ideas on where to keep the pile growing at my house? The front porch isn't working very well and it's not very aesthetic, LOL.

I've found that pricing low makes you more money. As a yard-saler, when I see high prices I get disgusted and leave without buying anything at all. (After all if I wanted to pay retail prices, I wouldn't be yard saling!) But when the prices are genuine yard sale prices, I'll scoop up anything that suits my fancy. The sellers make more money off of me, and when I have yard sales I make more money as well pricing things at real yard sale prices.

Going to yard sales for at least a month should be a required task for anyone who wants to *have* a yard sale, lol. Price that stuff more reasonably!

Once again, you are my hero! I have boxes of stuff, mostly from the cafe and if I price them now I won't have to pull an all-nighter!

Another great tip. Let the kids play with the toys in the basement one last time or two! Their temporary interest is not enough to pull it from the pile but they won't most likely won't fuss when you try to sell it!
